Deer hunting is an addictive sport and when a person does it once he enjoys the thrill so much that, he is tempted to go repeatedly.

If you are a city person, you need to know about the woods before you go deer hunting.  There are open woods, which are owned by people whose permission is needed before you begin your hunt.  The permission has to be a written one and you should carry it with you when you go hunting.

Deer can be shot by bows, guns, and rifles.  The hunting equipment you use has certain specifications, which you have to follow.  The rifle or the bow have to be of certain sizes and as each state has different rules and regulations.  It is wise to find out the rules in the area where you are going, before you venture.  You have to be very careful of your clothing.  Deer are color blind so they will not notice what you are wearing.  For your own safety and to prevent being hit by other enthusiastic deer hunters, you should wear orange which will stand out among the trees and the forest area so others can see you clearly.

One thing you have to be very careful about is body perfume.  Deer are very sensitive to odors and you have to be very careful that no ones odor can be smelt by them.  You have to cleanse yourself and dress for success.  Check your hunting equipment so to see that it doesn’t emit any odors.  It’s better if you use deer scent so that the deer you are aiming are thrown off by it.  If you carry deer scent, they will not know that a hunter with his hunting equipment is near by.

You have to find out the signs of deer.  Their foot marks, the places where they rub their horns or heads, their urine smell and other such marks show where the deer are.  Most of the deer come out half an hour before sunrise and remain outside until half hour after sunset. These half hour periods are the best time to hunt deer.  They do not venture into the open when a storm is expected or when there is fast winds coming about.
